PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Monday, 16.30 – 18:00

Tanz Graz organizes a weekly CONTEMPORARY PROFESSIONAL TRAINING for everyone who (wants to) be on stage.

The aim is to provide professional and semi-professional dancers and artists from other genres with a space for joint training to maintain and deepen their skills. All dance and performance artists are welcome.

Every week, someone different from the independent scene leads the training. In addition to the training, this creates a lively exchange and the opportunity to get to know each other better.

LABS-ON-DEMAND

Labs with national and international artists provide the necessary impulses and provide the scene with high-level inspiration. This can involve both contemporary dance technique and performance tools. Tanz Graz offers “Labs-on-Demand”. Individual artists or companies can propose a lab on a topic that is relevant to them or with a teacher who inspires them, which is then organized by Tanz Graz (6 to 15 hours). These labs can be requested to accompany a production that is in development or to strengthen the company/individual artist individually and independently of the production.

Lab with Emese Horti:

Sustainable Bodywork – practical anatomy for dancers

Saturday, 29 March 2025 I 11am to 2pm

In this lab, Emese shows the most important parts of the active and passive musculoskeletal system: the skeleton and muscles.
Many aches and pains arise because you strain the wrong muscles and don’t understand the connections in the body. A shortened hip can lead to back pain, for example, or your recurring headaches can be linked to your shoulder blade. Knee pain can be caused by the fact that the weight should be distributed differently on the soles of your feet.
Basically, a tight muscle is an overworked muscle and actually needs to be strengthened and stretched.
Together with our quick excursion into anatomy, we go through strengthening and stretching exercises. With anatomical background knowledge, you have an advantage because you know exactly which muscle groups to focus on. The better you can imagine what is happening in your own body, the more it happens.
The exercises are accompanied by tips and tricks for everyday life. Just five minutes a day can significantly improve your general well-being.

Emese Horti has 27 years of experience in dance, movement, sport, injuries, pain and self-healing. She knows the human body inside out and is happy to give you anatomical information and tips on request so that you can get to know your body better.
Emese is a contemporary dancer, choreographer and trainer. She stands with all her heart and soul for.

OSF is a Dance Method rooted in the Skinner Releasing Technique and developed by the New York Choreographer Stephanie Skura.

It involves shedding outer layers, accessing primal energy, agility navigating subconscious realms, imagery as a potent tool for transformation, developing a high degree of self-consciousness. This work celebrates diversity, collaboration & individual empowerment: free of inhibition, inviting the mind to collaborate. OSF sessions offer potent tools to access freedom, specificity & courage in movement, vocal practice & creative practice. A key aspect is individual creative empowerment as an instigator of positive change on the planet.
